are all 5-letter-words fair game?
several kinds of words
are not used: normal "add s or es" plurals, proper nouns, borrowed words that aren't fully englishified
yet (example, neither texas nor taxes are legal words) are not used. however, borrowed and fully englishified
words that end in s, like
kudos, or nonstandard plurals like geese, are used.
how does scoring work?
- 50 points for each correct guess
- -15 points for each incorrect guess
- 60-10 points, varying speed bonus for finishing under 30 seconds
- total points divided by half your time.
- if not all words completed, total points are divided by your full time, so...you are encouraged to get all the words.
can't you work out something better for same-lettered words like
charm and march?
no. the game is better with the gut punches.
